Vision and Mission

The language of the heart

We are animal-lovers and would like to contribute as much as possible to spreading an understanding for respectful and loving interactions with the animal world, for the good of everyone and our planet. Through heartfelt and direct contact with our resident family of healing dogs, we humans can learn a lot from them. A short visit isn’t enough time for this to happen – the dogs need a couple of days to naturally accept the guests into their dog family: here, the dogs are hosts too! That’s why we offer our guests the opportunity to spend a few days in our stunning natural surroundings, relaxing, practicing yoga or enjoying creative activities, while our dogs watch them, full of interest, and speak to them with the “language of the heart”.

What our slogan "Touchable Love" does mean

It refers to the loving connection between humans and other living beings. It is truly difficult to describe, as it is a phenomenon both subtle and powerful: the language of the heart. We can connect to one another intuitively with our eyes, our words or our touch, but what is being communicated is always the language of the heart, a universal rhythm shared among all the living beings on our planet. And it's in this pure connection that we found our motto: "Touchable Love". It perfectly expresses what we wish to offer you during your stay at Retreat Bela Natureza, aside from comfort and wellbeing.

Through relaxed interactions and meditation sessions with the dogs we will be connected to very special  healing  moments, as well as learn more about intuitive communication and the feelings of the animals.

Every one of us is unique! Just like we humans are all different from one another, our dogs at Retreat Bela Natureza are all individuals, with different sizes, colors, personalities, preferences and temperaments. It’s interesting for both children and adults alike to appreciate the diversity and authenticity of animals and the fact that each of them is special and unique, and deserves love and respect.

With our motto, "Touchable Love", we address ourselves to people, because words are our primary form of communication. But this love, which is almost materialized, tangible, has neither to do with humans nor with animals. It arises out of the loving interaction between the two; usually it is the animals who take the initiative and help us to open our hearts up wide.

Smiling faces, happiness that comes from the heart: these are the precious moments that help us to reconnect unconditionally with the loving and creative beings we are!

Other examples of successful interactions between people and dogs

We're all aware of the wonderful work done by guide dogs, therapy dogs and companion dogs for people with various different physical health conditions and impairments. And recently it's growing a larger understanding that dogs can also help people in various ways in a whole range of specific situations, and that the interaction between humans and dogs can be extremely positive:

- Dogs in hospitals and retirement homes

More and more hospitals are allowing pets to visit their owners during treatment, and dog visits to elderly people or Alzheimer's patients in nursing homes are becoming more common. One very successful example from Texas: a retirement home there began working directly with a refuge for abandoned dogs, bringing the dogs into the home so that people can pet and care for the animals. Both humans and animals are so much happier! And the key to this success is called love! With love and respect, everybody benefits.

- Dogs and children

It's common sense, but now it is being scientifically proven too. Interaction between specially trained dogs and children with conditions such as autism, epilepsy or hyper-activity, can be essential for the wellbeing of the child. Dogs understand exactly what the child needs in each specific moment and they lovingly adapt themself to the situation.

- Other examples, extraordinary stories

Extraordinary stories from universities and „Pets Unstressing Passengers“-programs at Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco Airport: Dogs had been introduced to university classrooms to calm students down during final exams, and a "team" of dogs (plus one cute pig!) at San Francisco International Airport is helping anxious passengers calm their nerves by allowing them to pet them while waiting for their flights. It's proven that stroking a dog calms the nerves and reduces fear of flying.
