There is lots to see and do surrounding the Retreat Bela Natureza. With beautiful beaches, restaurants across all price points, cultural performances, authentic festivities, and great transportation to Salvador, you cannot be bored. Please ask us about the option of having a guided tour.

Retreat Bela Natureza is situated near a main highway 'Estrada do Côco', that runs down the north coast of Bahia. There are many buses that run north or south, with the added option of taking a taxi or moto taxi. If you are going by foot, the nearby village of Coqueiro is less than ten minutes' walk away and the charming seaside village of Arembepe you reach on foot in 40 minutes (there is also a 30 minute short cut to a very beautiful and less crowded beach). There is not a lot of night life here, so it is very enjoyable to spend a quiet night at the retreat looking at the stars, practicing yoga, or whatever you please.

Coqueiro: This small village is less than a ten minute walk away. Here you will find some small shops where you can buy beverages, fruits and vegetables, fresh bread, eggs, milk, and much more. The people here are friendly and there is a small but beautiful river crossing on the way.

The forests surrounding the village are perfect for relaxing walks.

Arembepe: This small village is about a 40 minute walk from the retreat, a 10 minute car drive, and there is also the option to rent a bike in the nearby bike store. Arembepe is a small beach town that boasts beautiful restaurants, smaller food stands, hidden bars, supermarkets, pharmacies, cash machine, tourist shops, a local church, and a stunning beach front. There is the option to sit and swim on the main beach, which is surrounded by beautiful reefs. The waves crash against these reefs, which protect the swimmers and create tranquil natural pools. Or, there is the option to walk further to the left or right of the beach for more waves and fewer people. Surfing, paddle boarding, and body boarding are also very popular along the beaches. Recommended restaurants include: Mar Aberto (five star restaurant) and Tia Neuza (basic price).

Guarajuba: This beautiful beach paradise is surrounded by higher end homes, small beach bars and restaurants, and miles of wide open beach. It takes about 35 minutes by bus from the highway by the condominium, or about 25 minutes by car. It is not as touristy as some other beaches on the coast, but has all of the small perks, including stalls selling fresh fish right on the beach. Our recommendation for a restaurant: La Cantina - excellent pizza and local dishes with a view of a beautiful lake!

Praia do Forte: This much larger beach is about 45 minutes by bus from the highway outside of the condominium, or about 35 minutes by car. There are plenty of shops that sell beach wear, water sports equipment and gifts. There is also a large array of restaurants from small food stands to more lavish restaurants. This area is known for its beautiful beaches, travel resorts, and luxury homes. The community fishermen still live here which makes an interesting mix between tourism and authentic living. Take a walk down the beach for a less crowded vibe and smaller food stalls.

Other beaches around the highway 'Estrada do Côco' which have their own attractions and are easy to reach by car, are the stunning beach of Itacimirim with its relaxing waterfalls, the beautiful nudist beach of Massarandupió, and the big sand dunes in Mangue Seco.

Salvador da Bahia: There is a lot to see and do here, including the historic center of Pelourinho and the beach area of Barra. Both areas boast nice small restaurants and bars. You may find yourself enjoying a cold capirinha in a noisy and vibrant plaza, or in a more luxurious restaurant with live music and extravagant dishes. There is endless street food including delicious acarajés (you might like them more the second time you try them!) and cold beer to go around, surfing in Barra, many very interesting museums and stunning tourist sites. Recommended restaurants include: Maria Mata Mouro (very good but fairly expensive), Confraria das Ostras (good price-quality balance), Acarajé da Cira in Largo da Mariquita (lower price) as well as two very good vegeterian restaurants, Manjericão and Saúde na Panela.
